Fake DIFC Commercial Licence used in a Fraudulent Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and the public to a fraudulent scam in which a fake Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Commercial Licence of MEX Australia PTY LTD, a former DFSA Authorised Firm (the firm), has been used.

The fake Licence includes the firm’s former Licence number and the names of the firm’s authorised signatories. The DFSA informs you that MEX Australia PTY LTD is no longer registered in the DIFC nor authorised or regulated by the DFSA.

The scammers have also changed the company name on the Licence to “AlWasit.” The DFSA informs you that AlWasit is not registered in the DIFC nor authorised or regulated by the DFSA.

The scammers have distributed the fake Licence through social media.

A copy of the fake Licence can be viewed here.

The DFSA strongly advises that you do not respond to the perpetrators of the scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party connected to the scam.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to: ALERTS
