Fake DFSA employee signatures and stamp used in a Fraudulent Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and members of the public about a fraudulent scheme in which the DFSA is impersonated, and two individuals falsely claim to be officers of the DFSA.

The scammers use a letter which contains the DFSA’s logo and purports to be from the DFSA’s “Office of the Administrator”.  The DFSA confirms that the letter is false, and informs you that:

  • the two individuals named in the letter are not employees of the DFSA;
  • there is no department or function in the DFSA which is called the “Office of the Administrator”;
  • there is no such position as “Controller General, DFA, United Arab Emirates” at the DFSA;
  • there is no such position as “Assistant Commissioner office for Services and Enforcement, Department of Treasury, UAE Financial Service Authority (DFSA)” at the DFSA; and
  • the purported DFSA stamp on the letter is not genuine.

The DFSA strongly advises that you do not respond to any communication regarding the scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party in connection with the scam.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to: ALERTS
