DFSA Impersonated in an Advance Fee Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and the public to a scam in which the DFSA has been impersonated.

The scammer, who purports to be “Dr Samira Al-Maktoum”, the Director of International Oversight of the DFSA, sends emails to the victims falsely claiming that “Enormous27Trade” is a legitimate firm. The scammer seeks payments of a fee from the victims stating that the fee is necessary for Enormous27Trade to provide the victims with services.

The DFSA informs you that:

  • the named person is not a current or past employee of the DFSA;
  • there is not, and has never been, a person with the title “Director of International Oversight” at the DFSA;
  • Enormous27Trade is not authorised or licensed by the DFSA; and
  • the DFSA does not provide financial services to members of the public and does not seek fees for doing so.

The DFSA strongly advises you not to respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party connected to the scam.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to Alerts

The DFSA has also issued warnings and guidance about the common types of scams perpetrated on consumers. For more information on these scams, please go to How to avoid being scammed
