False claim of DFSA authorisation and use of cloned Public Register by Lyfelete Ltd

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and the public to a scam in which Lyfelete Ltd, falsely claims to be regulated by the DFSA and uses a fraudulent, cloned version of the DFSA’s Public Register to support its claims.

On its website (https://lyfelete.com/), the firm:

  • falsely claims to be authorised by two regulators, including the DFSA; and
  • uses fake DFSA License number.

Lyfelete Ltd also uses a fraudulent website which replicates the DFSA’s Public Register. The Fraudulent website:

  • closely imitates the DFSA’s official Public Register;
  • displays Lyfelete Ltd as an authorised firm and usesa fabricated DFSA license number; and
  • includes links at the top and at the bottom of the fraudulent page which go to the legitimate Public Register of the DFSA.

The DFSA informs you that:

  • the cloned register is hosted on a non-DFSA domain name and is not affiliated with the DFSA in any way;
  • Lyfelete Ltd is not, and has never been, authorised or licensed by the DFSA;
  • any web address claiming to be the DFSA’s Public Register with a domain name starting with anything other than “dfsa.ae” is not legitimate;
  • the legitimate Public Register website of the DFSA is available at www.dfsa.ae/public-register/firms; and
  • the companies mentioned in such fraudulent websites are not authorised by the DFSA.

The DFSA recommends that you access the DFSA’s Public Register from the DFSA’s website (www.dfsa.ae) instead of doing so through a link provided by a third party.  The DFSA also strongly advises that you do not correspond with the scammers.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts, which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to Alerts

The DFSA has also issued warnings and guidance about the common types of scams perpetrated on consumers.  For more information on these scams please go to How to avoid being scammed

The DFSA encourages consumers to refer to the list of regulated Firms and Authorised Individuals licensed by the DFSA that is available on the DFSA's Public Register
