FIG Investments Ltd and the DFSA Impersonated in Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and the public to a scam in which a DFSA authorised firm, FIG Investments Ltd (the Firm), and the DFSA has been impersonated.

The scammers operate an advanced fee scam by sending fraudulent letters purporting to be issued by the Firm using a fake email address impersonating the DFSA.

The scammers operate an advanced fee scam by:

  • providing a fraudulent trading platform at: https://platform.figinvestmentsltd.online/auth/login and sending fraudulent letters
  • representing on the website that the trading platform is a genuine platform; and
  •  using a fake email address impersonating the DFSA.

In an attempt to validate the scam, the scammers fraudulently impersonated the Firm by using:

  • a fraudulent website https://figinvestmentsltd.com/, which resembles the one used by the Firm;
  • a fake letterhead logo and company stamp with the DFSA’s name on it;
  • the Firm’s licensed director name and a forged signature on the fraudulent letter; and
  • the DFSA’s name on the fake company stamp and sending the fraudulent letters from a fake email address: compliance @ supportdfsa.net.

The DFSA confirms that the:

  • letter was not issued, approved, or authorised by the DFSA or the Firm or any of its officers or representatives;
  • DFSA does not permit Authorised Firms to use company stamps bearing the DFSA’s name; and
  • the email address: compliance @ supportdfsa.net does not belong to the DFSA.

The DFSA strongly advises you not to respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should you send or give any money to any party connected to the scam.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which it has issued about scams. All alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to: ALERTS
